Real time snare side.
Floor tom ringing after snare hit.
I have heard the tape method but how exactly do you do it and were do you put the tape.
Drop 5 or 6 cotton balls in a 16 or larger floor tom with droning issues and your set.
On my mounted toms and floor tom i have this horrible long lasting over ring and i know some drummers like it but i dont how do you make it stop.
After i even tighten the snares with he little screw it still rigs for like 5 secs after i hit it.
I bought an 18 floor tom duration.
Ok i have a typical setup with two rack toms and a floor tom rack toms are mounted on the kick.
But if your having issue on rack toms where you need to get creative with muffling the issue is the heads tuning or both.
I need some help please.
Make sure that the toms and snare are sufficiently damped before you start recording.
What s the best way to get rid of tom ring a ringing noise after the tom is hit picked up by the tom mics on a recording of a drum kit.
First all snare drums are supposed to ring a very muffled snare with no ring sounds to the audience like a piece of wood being hit no life no tone no projection.
When you hit your tom the snare wires will sound if they are too close or touching the snare drum.
Every kick hit is complimented by an undercurrent of floor tom ring.
I have a ridiculous snare ring after i hit it the snare are centered on the reso head they arent wore out.
This is something i got from my gigs and live performances and i want to share as most of the tuning questions are directed to how to get rid of the ringy sound in a snare drum.
Only the front head is on the kick.
Also my snare has a more of marching band sound when i hit it i want it to have less of the crackling sound more like linkin park s drummer so any suggestions.
I did my best to cure the problem at source but now some is on the recording.
Remove the ringing from a drum tom quickly if you are at a show and getting ready to go on stage.
I have the toms tuned to where i like open and resonant and the kick is a very tight punch.
And they buzz horribly with my toms but im not too worried about that.
Would be totally lifeless without it.
The balls bounce on impact allow the drum to resonate freely and then when they fall they kill the ring.
Listen to the beginning of weezer s el scorcho for some really tasty floor tom ring.
You can loosen it a bit but that would effect the sound of your snare when hitting it you can barely hear it if you re playing it though so just leave it.
